Bartholomew
Barrel is a theme character at RPFS. He's the
Chippen Under Oakwood Brewmaster, and is usually
seen with the Ale Wenches about the village, as
well as in the three theme shows, the Call
o'Faire, The Lord Mayor's Show, and The Queen's
Show. He's also the father of lovely young
Violet Barrel, one of the May Queen's troupe of
Revelers.
He'll tell anyone who will listen, and many
who would rather not, about his days as second
quartermaster's mate aboard Drake's Ship the
Pelican...later the Golden Hind. History says
the Golden Hind circumnavigated the world, but
Barrel knows for a fact that the world is flat,
and that the ship missed sailing over the edge
one night just by luck. Once he returned to his
Home Village, he took his share of the vast
prize of Spanish Gold and Silver, and bought the
village brewery from its former owner, Corky
Tapper, and swore never to set foot on a sailing
ship again.
He's played by Dennis Michael, a veteran
Television and Radio Journalist, who is head
writer and host of Sky Radio, audio programming
for American Airlines, NorthWest, Aloha and
USAir. He's also a daily contributor to
Filmstew.Com, and was, for 18 years, the voice
of CNN's "Hollywood Minute." Dennis Michael has
been addicted to Renaissance Pleasure Faire
since 1973, and has come to realize there is no
cure.
